What's Your Favorite Color?

“What’s your favorite color?” The answer to this question seems to be a very important detail to my Shiloh-Grace. She knows which color each of her friends like, and she has even made up a favorite color for Huck. She says he must like blue or orange since he is a boy.

Every time she asks me I respond with “pink and green.” I’ve always liked these colors because they make my complexion and eyes pop. And green has always seemed to be a staple color in my decorating. Our living room, dining room, bathroom and kitchen have always had lots of green in them. And just recently, as we were wandering through Target, I spotted the most beautiful green comforter and sheet set. I can honestly say “it spoke to me.” When we put them on our bed and made it up with the green pillow shams, delight and calm flowed through me. I was immediately at ease without a care in the world.

The next day we were adding more green paint samples to our kitchen walls, and up went grass cloth. When Robert painted that shade of green on the wall, I once again felt delight and calm. I told Robert that grass cloth was our color!

Over the last few days, I have found myself standing in our bedroom doorway staring at my lovely new bedding. And every time I am in the kitchen, I end up standing by our stove gazing out the back window with our green walls in my peripheral vision.

I have come to realize that the color green is therapeutic for me. Maybe because it’s the color of leaves and grass and in this area, we only see those for about 6 months out of the year. Whatever the reason, it has taken over our home and has put me at ease. Thankfully my husband is fine with the color green too.

On another note…

My first blog post took a lot out of me. Very few people knew I was that bad off, so baring it all for anyone to see sort of wore me out (thankfully I have a green house to calm me down). But since last Wednesday, when I posted that blog, I have received so many encouraging comments, emails and even one very emotional phone call. Thanks friends!

Then, this morning, I decided to get caught up on all the blogs that I follow. Three of them have posted some very soul-baring blogs over the last week. I want to say a HUGE thank you to Amy (www.miraflorfamily.blogspot.com) for posting “You Are Not Alone”, Janelle  (www.azhyattfamily.blogspot.com) for “Thoughts from an Occasional Insomniac” and Mandy (www.jacobandmandy.blogspot.com) for “He Makes All things New”. These posts spoke to me. You are all amazing women, and I am so glad that you are all documenting your journeys through this roller coaster of a life!

Oh Cheyenne...honestly, I am amazed at how much you have been through and you are still trekking along. Seriously, I fully believe you have fared better than most people...you are an incredible person who has been through a lot and in my opinion you DESERVE to have a couple months breakdown. Really. And isn't blogging incredible? Such a wonderful way to air our feelings! :)
