Puke, Poop and Valentines

Whew…we have had quite the week! Huck has had this disgusting stomach flu for 4 days. Though I must say that today he has been MUCH better! It was so horrible knowing there was nothing I could do for him. Then when my daughter and I started throwing up, I just knew this was the end of my rope! Thank God we only had it bad for about 6 hours. I guess with Huck being so young he just couldn’t shake this virus as quickly as we did.

Robert was amazing through all of this though. He held Huck when he got sick, he laid down with Shiloh-Grace and he let me nap on and off all day! He also did about 5+ loads of laundry and disinfected the whole house…what a guy! (I love you baby!!!)

Since Shiloh-Grace was so sick yesterday, she had to miss school today just to make sure she wouldn’t infect anyone else. So we spent the day having fun preparing for Valentine’s Day. We filled out all of her little Valentine Cards for her classmates. Then she wanted to make some special cards for her teachers. So I pulled out her paints and let her get creative. I did show her some pictures to give her a bit of inspiration (see the magic onions for her choice). Sorry, but I don’t have any pics of these activities.

But these I do…thanks to my talented photographer husband. First we made these yummy pretzel-Hershey-M&Ms candies (thank you Jen Gottschalk for the idea). They are easy, quick and yummy. You just lay out circle pretzels on a baking sheet. Put a Hershey Kiss or Hug in the middle of each pretzel, then bake for about 2 minutes. Press an M&M in the middle of each kiss/hug before they harden. We froze ours to speed up the hardening process.
Next we grabbed some felt sheets, a headband and a hot glue gun (to see a tutorial see made by lex). Shiloh-Grace helped cut out the hearts, and I did the hot gluing. This was a lot of fun for her…especially the modeling part. She will wear her headband tomorrow for her school Valentine’s Party.
Today has been a nice ending to our flu season (at least I hope it’s the end of it)! I hope you all have a very happy and fun Valentine’s Day!
